Galvanized Steel Strip Supplied for Downstream Processing in the UAE

2026-09-24

A recent shipment of approximately 420 tons of galvanized steel strip from GDD Steel has been prepared for delivery to a metal processing company in the United Arab Emirates. The order was arranged in several shipments and will be used mainly as feedstock for the customer’s downstream manufacturing operations. After arrival, the steel strip will be processed through slitting, cutting, roll forming, and other operations to produce cable support systems, light-gauge components, and various metal accessories used in construction and industrial projects.

The order covers a range of sizes to match different production requirements. The main thicknesses are 0.75 mm, 0.9 mm, 1.2 mm, and 1.5 mm, while the widths are mainly between 100 mm and 280 mm. The galvanized coating weights are primarily around 80 g/m² and 100 g/m², with some specifications adjusted according to the customer’s forming and fabrication requirements. Since the material will be processed again after delivery, dimensional consistency is particularly important. The customer confirmed the required thickness, width, coil weight, and coating condition before production so that the material could be matched with its existing processing equipment.

The galvanized surface is also an important consideration for this type of application. During production, the steel strip passes through a galvanizing process that provides a protective zinc layer on the steel surface. This helps improve resistance to corrosion, which is particularly useful for components that may be installed in areas exposed to humidity, dust, or changing environmental conditions. For the customer, the appearance of the coating, surface condition, edge quality, and suitability for forming are all part of the material selection process.

The customer is a local metal processor supplying components to construction contractors and industrial equipment companies. Rather than using the galvanized strip directly, the company purchases coils as semi-finished raw material and processes them according to individual orders. Depending on the final product, the material may first be slit into narrower strips and then sent through roll-forming equipment. Other batches may be cut or punched before being assembled into finished components.

The 420-ton order was arranged in two main shipment schedules. Approximately 210 tons were prepared for the first shipment, followed by another 210 tons for the second. The cargo required around 18 40HQ containers in total, with the actual loading arrangement adjusted according to coil weight and the combination of different specifications. Before loading, the coils were grouped according to size and shipping requirements. Proper securing and protection were also arranged to reduce the possibility of shifting, impact, or surface damage during the ocean transportation process.

For a steel processing company, transportation is only one part of the supply chain. The condition of the material when it reaches the customer’s factory can directly affect the efficiency of subsequent processing. This is why the order was handled with attention to coil packaging, identification, loading sequence, and documentation. Clear marking of different specifications also makes it easier for the customer to identify the required material after the containers arrive.

The final products made from these galvanized steel strips will be used in several areas, including cable management systems, light structural components, equipment support parts, and construction accessories. These products are commonly required as supporting materials in factories, warehouses, commercial buildings, and other facilities. Although they are relatively small compared with major structural steel members, they are closely connected with installation work and the practical operation of the completed facility.

For GDD Steel, this shipment is another example of how an export order can be organized around the customer’s downstream manufacturing process rather than simply supplying standard steel products. From specification confirmation and production to inspection, packaging, container loading, and international transportation, each stage needs to correspond with the customer’s actual requirements. By supplying galvanized steel strip with consistent dimensions and suitable coating performance, GDD Steel continues to support overseas steel processors with materials that can move directly into their next stage of production.
