A cylindrical clothing tin gives a folded T-shirt, rolled top or compact apparel gift a rigid, reusable presentation. We match the can's usable opening and height to the actual garment and any tissue, sleeve or insert. This is a display and handling package for dry goods; a removable lid is not automatically airtight or waterproof.
Tinplate is thin, cold-rolled steel with an electrolytically applied tin coating. The steel provides shape and stiffness; the tin-coated surface can be lacquered or printed for decorative packaging. ETP and SPTE are common names for electrolytic tinplate. For a finished clothing can, the material, protective finish and lid fit must be specified together. For a more detailed explanation of grades and coatings, read our tinplate material guide.
Single-reduced tinplate is generally easier to form for curved bodies and rolled edges; harder or double-reduced grades may suit selected components after a forming trial. Bright, stone and matte refer to the base metal finish, while the final printed appearance also depends on ink, basecoat and varnish. Tin coating weights such as 2.8/2.8 and 5.6/5.6 g/m² describe the nominal coating on each face, not the can's steel thickness. Tin-free steel (TFS/ECCS) is chromium-coated steel, a different material that usually needs lacquer on both faces; it should not be quoted as tinplate without agreement.
A printed tin can make a limited-edition garment or gift set feel like a keepsake. Its rigid wall helps the contents hold their presentation through normal retail handling, while an opaque shell shields the garment from light and surface dust when closed. A removable lid allows the customer to reuse the container. Plain metal works for a restrained look; printed metal carries artwork across the body and lid.
This format is best evaluated by the value of the complete retail presentation. It adds container, printing, packing and freight costs compared with a simple bag. The garment must be fully dry before packing; use tissue or a sleeve where contact with metal, printing or movement could mark delicate fabric. Validate transit performance and local storage conditions with a physical sample.

The sheet range and coating examples describe selectable input materials, not a claim that every combination is suitable for every finished can.
Limited-edition T-shirt: A fashion label rolls one adult tee in tissue, selects a can with enough opening clearance for removal, and prints collection artwork on the body. Approve a packed garment sample before ordering the production size.
Socks and scarf gift set: A retail buyer chooses a plain or seasonal printed tin, uses a divider to keep items in place, and checks that the lid remains secure after handling and carton shipment.
Premium hoodie packaging: A brand measures the folded hoodie first. If the necessary diameter makes a round tin too large or costly, a different tin shape or conventional box may be the better fit.
These are illustrative project briefs, not claims about completed customer orders or published reviews.
Aluminum: It is lighter and does not form red rust, which can help with freight or humid conditions. Tinplate offers a stiff steel body and established lithographic printing options. Compare finished cans of the same size, print and strength before comparing prices.
Stainless steel: It offers strong corrosion resistance and long service life, but its material and forming costs may be excessive for a short-run promotional package. Tinplate is often a more practical printed presentation for this use.
Uncoated cold-rolled steel: It provides the underlying steel strength, but needs a suitable protective coating to reduce rust and to create a reliable decorative finish. Tinplate starts with a controlled tin-coated packaging substrate.
Galvanized steel: Its zinc coating is useful for many structural and outdoor products. Decorative garment tins generally need a smoother, purpose-selected print system and carefully finished edges, making tinplate a more natural starting point. Neither metal can replace dry storage and suitable finishing.
GDD Metal supplies the ETP tinplate sheet and can coordinate material selection, print layout, can forming, sample approval and export packing for the finished clothing tin. See our printed tinplate guide for the coating and artwork process. We can prepare a certificate of origin (COO), a traceable mill test certificate (MTC) for the tinplate, and commercial invoice, packing list and shipping documents according to the order. Exporter qualification or an export license can be supplied where applicable and required; the document list is confirmed for the destination and shipment before dispatch. An MTC documents the steel, while finished-can inspection covers the agreed dimensions, surface and packing.
It depends on the actual folded or rolled garment, its fabric thickness and the chosen insert. Send a physical sample or packed dimensions so we can check usable internal space and lid clearance.
Do not assume so. A standard removable lid is not a tested hermetic seal. Pack dry clothing and specify any additional moisture barrier separately.
Plain cans and printed designs can be discussed. For full-body lithographic decoration, approve the artwork and print method before forming; later-applied labels are a separate option.
Send the garment type and packed dimensions, preferred internal diameter and height (if known), lid style, plain or printed finish, artwork, order quantity and destination port. We will confirm the sample plan, MOQ and lead time against that brief.
